Explore the Tuacahn Saturday Market
Tuacahn Center for the Arts may be best-known for its Broadway caliber musicals, but there’s more than one way to experience the famed amphitheater. Every Saturday from April to October, the Tuacahn Saturday Market is held in the canyon featuring crafts, souvenirs, local artwork, food, produce and live entertainment! Admission is free to attend the market, which is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and has become a local tradition in the hot summer months.
Patrons can stroll along the canyon’s relaxing tree-lined walkways to browse the best and most creative crafts, artwork and hidden treasures. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., come for a pancake breakfast with bacon and juice at the Tuacahn concessions stand, and later in the day, grab a hot dog and picnic with the whole family. Additional food is also available for purchase from a wide variety of vendors.
SunRiver resident Don Rister is a regular vendor at the market, where he sells his handmade wooden art. Rister took woodworking classes in high school, but the trade didn’t become a serious hobby until he retired and moved to SunRiver, where he discovered all the tools he needed in the community’s woodworking shop. Now, he sells everything from gorgeous Southwest home décor and model home replicas to birdhouses and customized wooden artwork of customers’ pets.
Of course, Rister is one of many local artisans selling handcrafted goods at the market each Saturday. Come discover why Tuacahn Saturday Market is one of the best ways to spend a Saturday for both locals and visitors alike!
