SunRiver Ladies Golf Club Highlights

Happy fall SunRiver! It’s time to get back to the game of golf! Here are some highlights from the community’s Ladies Golf Club, courtesy of resident and club member Keren Francis.

As happens each summer, the course has been closed since August 25 for re-seeding and just opened for play on September 15. League play for ladies is on Mondays, with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. League play is 18 holes every week. A separate couples’ league plays nine holes every Thursday. (For more information regarding the couples’ league, contact Melva and Chuck Roelen.)

Currently, the club has about 81 members, with roughly 20 new members having joined since January 1 as new people move into the community. The Golf Club is always looking for new members, so don’t hesitate to brush off your clubs and hit the links with us!

As is expected, lots of residents tend to leave for the summer, heading to cooler climates such as Star Valley, but with everyone coming back in October, we’re looking forward to upcoming events!

For the upcoming month of October, the club’s primary event will be the Club Championship — a two-day tournament on October 21 & 22. On October 31, the Ladies Club will also be sponsoring a Halloween tournament; this will be open to the public for any players 55 and older.

This remains a ways off but following the Club Championship, the Ladies Club will be holding its annual banquet in the SunRiver Ballroom to give out awards for the year and introduce the new board and club president for 2020.

While this isn’t intrinsically part of the league, it’s also worth reminding players that team play against the Bloomington and Entrada teams will begin in the fall. (The first team play will be held November 7 at the Entrada course.) This is always a great way to meet players from the surrounding courses!

We’re looking forward to resuming play in the cooler autumn weather of Utah’s gorgeous Color Country!
