Tuacahn Center for the Arts ‘Christmas in the Canyon 2018’
The darkness in the canyon ahead gives way to a subtle glow that grows more pronounced as you wend your way along Tuacahn Drive. The source of the illumination comes into view once you round the last curve and see the sign for the Tuacahn parking lot.
Your heart beats a little faster.
Tuacahn is ablaze with thousands of Christmas lights.
The warm glow holds a promise that this year’s Christmas in the Canyon will be as inspiring and memorable as past year’s. Lights. Music. Camaraderie. Hot chocolate. Live Nativity onstage. The Christmas spirit.
Christmas is just around the corner.
It’s a season of joy. But for many of us, as the day draws nearer our joy gets wedged between the folds of hectic shopping, travel, harried meal preparations, and a gotta-get-it-done stack longer than Santa’s naughty and nice list.
If you need an infusion of Christmas spirit, schedule an evening and head out to Tuacahn’s Christmas in the Canyon.
Take a Christmas spirit break.
Christmas in the Canyon is a great way to mingle with family, friends of all ages, and other community participants to remember and celebrate the reason for this Christmas season.
From Nov. 23 through Dec. 22, Tuacahn Center for the Arts illuminates the red rock canyon with dazzling lights, joy, fellowship, and merriment from 5-9p.m. The combination of free and small admission fee events makes this event affordable for everyone.
“It's Tuacahn's way of saying ‘thank you’ to the community for its support and to remind us all of the true meaning of Christmas.”
There is no admission fee to immerse yourself and your group in the myriad of Christmas lights, the festive atmosphere of the canyon, and warming up by the open fire. Enjoy Christmas music on the plaza, and feel free to join fellow celebrants in some impromptu Christmas carols.
While you are enjoying the festivities on the plaza would be a great time to visit the newly expanded Tuacahn gift gallery. You might find that perfect gift while you browse their eclectic inventory.
The concession stands are open, so you can even warm up inside with some delicious hot chocolate and treats.
Santa Claus
About Santa’s long naughty and nice list…
…For the young and young at heart, what visit to Christmas in the Canyon would be complete without dropping by to share your wish list with Santa Claus himself? He will be available to entertain your Christmas list requests from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Live Nativity Play
The Live Nativity performed on the picturesque Tuacahn amphitheater stage is well worth the small admission fee of $3 per person or $20 per family (up to 10 people). With live animals including camels onstage interacting with the cast, there is no wonder it continues to be a family favorite year after year. The Live Nativity is performed each night by groups of volunteer cast members who bring to life the story of the birth of the Christ child each night at 7:00 and 8:00p.m. through music, acting, and narration. Each performance lasts approximately 20 minutes.
Train Rides
For $2 per person, you can hop onto the Old Salty Train, provided by Ruby's Inn at Bryce Canyon, sit back, relax, and take a Holiday train ride to see Tuacahn Center for the Arts behind the scenes.
Ice Skating
Glide around on Tuacahn's state-of-the-art synthetic ice rink at the base of the towering red rock canyon anytime between 5pm-9pm! Skating rentals are available for $7/person.
