The DiFiore Center is honored to display the art of Donna McMullin for the months of September and October 2018. “Echoes of the West” will showcase the beauty of the area that has inspired her thrilling nature-based artwork.
Donna has shown her carved creations throughout Southern Utah, including galleries in Cedar City, Kanab, Springdale, Kayenta and St. George. Gourds have been Donna’s preferred medium, combining carving, along with pyrography to create an array of art that echoes the West.
Born in New York State (and so close to NYC), Donna became entranced with the visual arts as a child. Trips to such places as the Museum of Natural History and MOMA piqued her interest in the history behind that art. This interest only intensified upon learning that her great-great-grandfather, Joseph Van Eydsen, was a carver and painter. A beautifully detailed carving of a Schooner, crashing along the waves, had always sat in her grandparents’ home. Donna currently resides in Southern Utah.
The DiFiore Center will be holding a reception on Saturday, September 14, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Please stop by the DiFiore Center to meet Donna and see her beautiful creations. If you can’t make the reception, “Echoes of the West” will be on display for the entire months of September and October at the DiFiore Center for the Arts (307 N. Main).
