The Way We Worked – Special Exhibits, Part 1

As part of the Smithsonian Institution’s county-wide celebration entitled Washington County Works!, a number of special exhibits are now on display throughout the county in commemoration of our rich history and community. Below is a listing and brief description of a few of the exhibits around St. George and Zion National Park that are worth visiting!

St. George Library Special Collections

• A special showing of archival documents that reveal and showcase the rich history of work in Washington County. Admission is free.

Seniors at Work!

• A photography exhibition at the St. George Art Museum showcasing seniors at work in Washington County. Admission to exhibition is free with museum admission.

Artists and the National Parks

• Artists created images of Zion and other wonders of the West – such as Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon – that influenced Congress to protect these places as wilderness, and then as national parks. Come celebrate the role art has played in the creation and history of the park. Located at the Zion History Museum inside Zion National Park.

Pioneer Quilting: More than a Hobby

• Come learn how nineteenth century pioneer women used their quilting skills to provide for their families and the larger community. Located at the McQuarrie Memorial DUP Museum – 145 N 100 E, St. George. Free with museum admission.

Paleontologists at Work!

• Ever wonder what paleontologists do? They expand our knowledge of ancient life by making discoveries in the field and the lab and sharing their discoveries through scientific publications and public engagement. Come find out more! Located at the Dinosaur Discovery Site – 2180 E. Riverside Dr., St. George. Free with museum admission.
