Wait Until Dark at Brigham’s Playhouse
Come get into the spirit of the Halloween season with Wait Until Dark at Brigham’s Playhouse!
Playing now through November 16, Wait Until Dark tells the story of sinister con man Harry Roat Jr. and ex-convicts Mike and Carlino, who are about to meet their match. The three criminals are after a mysterious doll in the apartment of Sam Hendrix and his blind wife, Susy. Unknowingly, Sam has been persuaded by a strange woman to transport the doll across the border, not knowing drugs have been sewn inside the childlike object. When the woman ends up murdered, Roat, Mike and Carlino convince a vulnerable Susy that her husband has been implicated in the crime, and that the doll is evidence of his innocence.
When Susy refuses to reveal the doll’s whereabouts, a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues. Discovering she’s the victim of a bizarre charade, Susy decides the only way to survive is to play by her rules, turning out the lights as darkness falls and leaving the three men to maneuver sight unseen at Susy’s mercy.
Based on the 1966 play by Frederick Knott, the story was adapted into a popular thriller by the same name the following year starring Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin.
