Revisiting the Massacre at Mountain Meadows with Dr. Glen Leonard

Join Dr. Glen Leonard to learn more about one of the greatest tragedies in Utah history: the infamous Mountain Meadows Massacre of 1857.

Dr. Leonard will be leading a special historical presentation of the event on Friday, September 13 at 7 p.m. at the St. George Tabernacle (18 S. Main Street).

With a Ph.D. in History and American Studies, Dr. Leonard first worked with the Utah State Historical Society followed by six years as a research historian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Church History Department. That was followed by 26 years as director of the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City.

He has co-authored four books, including Massacre at Mountain Meadows and is the editor of the forthcoming book Artifacts Speak. Soon, Dr. Leonard will finish a history of his own hometown of Farmington, Utah. For this presentation he will revisit the deadly events at Mountain Meadows and share his many historical, academic and contextual insights.

This event is FREE and open to the public.
