The Sound of Music at Tuacahn Amphitheater

Tuacahn Ampitheatre’s final show of the summer season is finally here! Come see the red hills of St. George transform into the green hills of WWII-era Austria as the canyon comes alive in this classic tale of Maria, the Captain and the Von Trapp children.

Based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family Singers, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music tells the tale of free-spirited Maria Rainer, a young postulant who leaves Nonnberg Abbey to serve as a governess for the Von Trapp children. Through her generosity and trusting persona, Maria transforms the strict household into one filled with laughter, joy, and music. Meanwhile, tensions are high in Austria on the brink of World War II, placing Maria and the Von Trapp family in grave danger as they must decide to either support the Nazi regime or risk their lives to follow their hearts. This final collaboration between Rodgers and Hammerstein has become one of the world’s most beloved musicals, boasting some of your favorite songs such as “Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”

Led by Broadway’s Elisabeth Evans (Once; The Sound of Music national tour) in the role of Maria, The Sound of Music opens for previews on Friday, July 19 and runs through October 26. Tickets start at $32 and can be purchased by visiting the Tuachan website.
