Driving Miss Daisy at the Neil Simon Festival
Come see Driving Miss Daisy as part of this year’s Neil Simon Festival! Alfred Uhry’s classic Pulitzer Prize-winning play is a timeless, searing, funny and ultimately hopeful meditation on race relations in America, told through the complex relationship between two of popular culture’s most enduring characters.
When Daisy Werthan, a widowed, 72-year-old Jewish woman living in midcentury Atlanta, is deemed too old to drive, her son hires Hoke Colburn, an African-American man, to serve as her chauffeur. What begins as a troubled and hostile pairing soon blossoms into a profound, life-altering friendship that transcends the societal boundaries placed between them. Their iconic tale of pride, changing times and the transformative power of friendship has warmed the hearts of millions worldwide.
Performances are held at Center for the Arts at Kayenta (881 Coyote Gulch Court – Ivins). The show runs March 20-23 at 7:30 p.m., with a special Sunday showing on March 25 at 5:00 p.m. Advanced tickets may be purchased online at http://bit.ly/KayentaTix”http://bit.ly/KayentaTix.
